Saving Danny by Cathy Glass

Saving Danny

Cathy Glass

It was a dark cold winter's evening when I was asked to help in the search for little Danny. The social worker had gone to Danny's school that afternoon to tell him he was going into care and he'd run away screaming and couldn't be found. The police, staff and social worker were searching the grounds of the school when I arrived to help.

Eventually Danny was found, safe but very scared. He clung to me silent and petrified as I carried him to my car to take him home. So began the story of little Danny whose mother couldn't cope with her son's autistic behaviour and whose father had rejected him for being different.

In Alaska There are No Limits to What a Man Can Do

KatMartinweb.jpg (300×266)

Bestselling Author Kat Martin

Having traversed the vast Alaskan landscape on two separate month-long occasions, staying in the back of a tiny pickup camper, I can see why Alaska is called America's last wilderness.

Though the vistas are magnificent and the animal life abundant, along with the pleasure of seeing them are howling winds that spring up unexpectedly, slashing rains, and frost on the ground in the morning--and that was in August!

Residents deal with dangerous grizzly bear encounters and charging moose.  They put up with cantankerous hermits who live far into the back country and definitely don't like visitors.  They suffer winters that seem endless, forest fires, and droughts.

Now imagine Samantha Hollis, a San Francisco city girl, traveling to Alaska to visit the hot guy she fell for in La Vegas.  It's the first of October and already she's facing the challenges of the coming winter.  Samantha is certain she could never make a life in Alaska, but she can't resist the invitation from the hottest guy she has ever met.

And there is something she badly needs to tell Nick.

Unlike Samantha, Nick Brodie was born and...

Against the Sky by Kat Martin ~~ Comment Contest!

AgainsttheSkyweb.jpg (150×225)

Kat Martin's latest Against the Sky will not be released soon enough as far as her fans and readers feel. Let's see what new with Kat.

One lucky winner will receive  a copy of Against the Sky! Comment on Kat’s blog post and you could win  one copy of either a paperback, kindle or nook – winner’s choice!

KatMartinweb.jpg (300×266)

We’re curious about your latest release. You have been writing the Against series for a couple of years now. The last book started the story in Alaska with Dylan Brodie. Tell us about that and how you plan to lead it to the next book, Against the Sky.

All of my books are completely stand-alone novels.  Against the Sky is Nick’s story.  Nick’s brother, Dylan, from Against the Wild is happily living with his lady love, Lane Bishop.  He and Nick live about 2.5 hours apart by plane.  Alaska is BIG.  Nick has problems of his own to solve and there isn’t much Dylan can do to help.  Rafe, however, brother number three, oldest and wisest, makes an appearance.   All of them are close and rely on each other for support, even though they...

Ways to Stay Safe During the Holidays and Year Round

We had a very informative meeting and I would like to spread the wonderful ideas and ways to protect ourselves during the holiday and year round.

Thank you to Corp. Pam Hibbs for providing the community with tips on how to keep you and your identity safe this holiday season.

* Don't throw away your ATM receipt. There is enough information on it to jeopardize your identity and accounts.
* Draw attention to yourself at the ATM if you think someone is suspicious.
* Lock your doors after getting back into your car.
* Before you put your ATM card into the scanner, try to wiggle the scanner. If it moves, it may have been compromised. Find a different ATM.
* Don't use ATM machines that have a hand written sign redirecting you to another ATM. And do NOT use the ATM at the other location.
*Shop before dark.
*Coordinate shopping with a friend.
*Do not park in an unlit area
*Do not park by large vehicles with dark tinted windows
*Beware of people claiming they need gas money or money to feed their children. Many times this is a distraction while someone else...

Authors wonder, now what? Facebook Changes its Newsfeed Policies

Let's go straight to the issues. Over promotion has hurt authors. Did we do it to ourselves?
  1. Posts that solely push people to buy a product or install an app
  2. Posts that push people to enter promotions and sweepstakes with no real context
  3. Posts that reuse the exact same content from ads
Well, really we knew it would happen sooner or later. We took advantage of it while we had the chance. There are still ways to get around it and we will figure it out. My suggestion would be to try and tag team each other. A necessary means to an end for promoting each other.
Alas, the other option is to return to conventional promotions. AdC will be here and trying every avenue to promote you and your books.
In the meantime, keep working with Facebook, manipulating ways to promote yourself and we will be there cheering you on and promoting with you.

Blurb/book description:

All this while, Matilda’s shadow had been growing larger and larger. Suddenly, it lunged out of the ground and swallowed her, like a python does its unsuspecting prey.

Nine year old Matilda ends up with a century old book through a series of strange coincidences. And disappears. Her brother and cousins are forced to suspend their hostilities and pursue her to Sceadu, a land inside the human shadow. Once there, the reluctant visitors find themselves chased by the vicious Hefigans, creatures of Sceadu. With the stakes suddenly raised, the children must now navigate...
