Amazon's New Rating System

Authors! and Readers!

Now that it has been a little over 6 months since Amazon changed its rating and reviews system. What do you think? Has it hurt or helped us?

Personally, I don't think it has done much. It hasn't been able to control the trolls. They still slip in there and make stupid remarks, attack, and insult. The trolls are just being more careful about it. Keeping it closer to "opinion."

Even scarier is they allow the trolls to "hide" their profiles now.

I honestly don't think this is the direction Amazon wanted the reviews to go.

So tell us. What do you think? Are you happy with the changes? What do you think about Amazon changing the Goodreads review policies?

Jodi Thomas and Her Love Stories with Texas

 Texas Love Stories

jodithomasweb.jpg (150×225)

With seven generations of my family in Texas, of course I write about the state I love.  In this new series I’m going more modern-day western than I ever have.  Step into the life of small towns and ranching with me.  I promise, you’ll fall in love with the people of Ransom Canyon.

The idea for RANSOM CANYON came from living in the Texas Panhandle.  I wanted to write about the real west of today.  I wanted my people to be like the men and women I grew up with, honest and true.  Not the cowboy on a book cover who has never been on a horse, but the cowboy who gets up at five to load his own horse and make it to the ranch before dawn.  He doesn’t work by the hour, but by the day.

As I began my first book in the series Staten Kirkland jumped off the page.  He’s strong and good, a rancher everyone looks up to, but he’s broken and only one woman can calm his heart. Shy Quinn asks nothing of him.  She offers understanding amid the storm of his life.

Their friendship develops into a gentle, loving...

Ransom Canyon

RansomCanyonweb.jpg (150×225)

“Compelling and beautifully written, it is exactly the kind of heart-wrenching, emotional story one has come to expect from Jodi Thomas.”

—Debbie Macomber, #1 New York Times bestselling author

Long ago, four families of ranchers settled along the canyon walls of a bleak Western frontier to forge better lives for future generations. Now, well over a hundred years later, on that same treacherous gorge, their scattered descendants are set to converge once more, ready to face the deadliest test of their lives. Welcome to Crossroads, Texas. From New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Jodi Thomas comes RANSOM CANYON (HQN Books, September 2015, $7.99 U.S./$8.99 CAN.), the first offering in a six-book series featuring enthralling family dramas, rugged heroes and the beautiful Texan landscape.

Following the deaths of his wife and only child, wealthy and prominent rancher Staten Kirkland swore he would never love again. All that keeps him going are his ranch and the grief he shares with his deceased wife’s best friend, Quinn O’Grady—his rainy-day woman. But after years of shared misery, something suddenly changes with...
